Installation of the alternator is straight forward. Remove the generator and the bracket on the engine and bolt the new bracket to the block. Install the washer and nylock nut to the end of the 3/8 bolt that passes through the front engine plate and tighten. Bolt the alternator to the bracket with the 3/8 bolt provided making sure that the flat washers supplied are under the head of the bolt and under the nylock nut. Do not tighten until the belt is installed and tensioned properly. Replace the old adjuster bracket on the water pump with the new one provided. Install the new fan belt, adjust the tension on the belt and tighten the adjuster bolt and the lower alternator mount bolt.

Wiring hookup:

A ring terminal is provided on the alternator battery stud for the large yellow wire that used to connect to the generator. Pre 1958 Morgan originally had a ring terminal on this wire so you may not need to change this connector. Post 59 car had a “Lucar” push-on connector so this ring terminal will need to replace the push-on connector. Solderering this terminal is the only right way to install the terminal, a “crimp” terminal should not to be used. A spade terminal is included for the yellow/green field wire to connect to the small black wire at the back of the alternator.

Replace your regulator with the new "dummy" regulator and connect the wiring as shown. The black ground wires are not used and can be taped back against the harness.
